Women's Causes

The Connecticut Open’s mission is to leverage the excitement of world-class women’s tennis to benefit the community and maximize support for women’s, youth and military causes in Connecticut.  



The Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven - throughout the tournament, WTA players and Men’s Legends participated in the “Closer to Free Player Challenge” at the Yale New Haven Health booth.  Through donations made by tournament Board members, sponsors and partners, over $31,000 was raised for the Lion Heart Fund at Smilow which funds grantees in breast cancer research. 

Anthem Symposium for Female Student Athletes - an annual panel discussion for 100+ female student athletes, hosted by the CT Open.  2016's topic focused on “Self Esteem and the Student Athlete" moderated by ESPN's Jane McManus, with lunch overlooking Stadium Court followed by a day of tennis.
