As we look forward to celebrating 20 years of women’s tennis at the Connecticut Open this summer, we asked some of our top players to take a walk down memory lane with us:
My favorite thing about the CT Open is…The tournament is close to New York City, it’s so convenient to go there by car afterwards and I love that there is a golf course there!
My standout memory at the CT Open is…I think 2015. I played some great matches, I lost to Lucie Safarova in the quarterfinals but I played some good tennis so I think that year stands out for happy memories
I decided to come back to the CT Open this year because…I wanted to get some more matches under my belt and to get the confidence that I need before the final Grand Slam of the year
If I were CT Open tournament director for a day, I would… bring back the players party that was there when we were combined with the men’s tournament – it was a really great party.
My favourite thing about the city of New Haven is…the restaurants!
If I were a student at Yale, I would study…History
If I could eat anywhere in New Haven, it would be…BAR. They have the greatest pizza in the world there, it’s the best! (https://www.barnightclub.com)
If I could play anyone from CT Open tennis history, it would be…Chris Evert
