The Connecticut Open is set to launch a holiday ticket campaign aimed at giving back to the community it serves and encouraging fans to snap up tickets to see world-class women’s tennis in New Haven next summer. The staff of the Connecticut Open celebrate 915 pounds of shoes for Soles4Souls. Tennis fans truly “served” the community by supporting the ShopRite Partners In Caring Food Drive during the 2017 Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies. Fans helped raise a total of $7,644.74 and collected 80 pounds of food for the Connecticut Food Bank, enough to provide 15,290 meals to those in need statewide. Tournament director Anne Worcester presents a check for $15,070 to the Lion Heart Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. During the 2017 Connecticut Open, professional tennis players participated in the “Closer to Free Player Challenge” by riding a spin bike at the Yale New Haven Health booth.
